Knitted Purple Faux Cable Hat + Tube Socks

This is an exciting post: not only am I busting my yarn stash, but I have knitted my first pair of socks!

I knitted myself a hat using the extra skein of Cascade 128 Tweed bulky weight yarn I had left over from my Pike Place sweater.

I used the free Giftie Slouchie Beanie pattern.

Total Cost: $5.49

This hat took less than three hours to knit and used less than 128 yards of yarn. Best pattern ever? I could make a million of these.

For Christmas my mother bought me a sock knitting book, so I made my first pair of socks! They're the 4x2 worsted weight rib socks.
I used Malabrigo Merino worsted weight yarn that I bought at the Fabric Place Basement in Natick, MA.

Total Cost: $8.80

Doesn't that look amazing?
I originally bought a bunch of this yarn to use for a sweater because it looked so fabulous in the store. When I got home I looked on Ravelry and a ton of people said that this yarn pills something awful. I wasn't about to spend that much money and time on a sweater that was going to pill, so I returned all the yarn except for the skein that I unwound, and I decided to make a pair of socks.

They're wicked warm and they knitted up pretty fast. I could see myself making more socks in the future, for sure.

Knitted Pike Place

What can I say, I just love cropped sweaters.  This is the Pike Place pattern. I used Cascade 128 Tweed bulky weight yarn.

Total Cost: $32.15
  • Yarn: $27.45
  • Buttons: $4.70

I love this yarn.  I ordered it online from Webs.  It's too bad it's been discontinued. I went to the Webs store in Northampton, MA a few months after I bought this yarn and I picked up more Cascade 128 Tweed in two other colors.

I bought the buttons at Jo-Ann Fabrics.

Fake Burberry Infinity Scarf + Knitted Cabled Boot Cuffs

I made an infinity Burberry infinity scarf using fabric from Fabric Place Basement in Natick, MA. I made a matching one for my mother for her birthday, but she refused to pose for blog pictures.

In an attempt to bush my yarn stash, I knitted up these cabled boot cuffs. The pattern is available here on Ravelry. I ran out of yarn, so they're different sizes and they're not quite long enough. I used Vanna's Choice worsted weight yarn in Grey Marble.

In other news, I am the proud winner of Amity Original's Epic 30th Birthday Giveaway! I just got the package in the mail. So exciting! She sent me thirty things and they're all listed on her blog page, but here is a little sneak peak:
Amity has just started her own pattern company, Lolita Patterns and the adorable Fuchsia Skirt pattern is available for free!
Don't you love the scallops?!

I made a matching hat for my friend Melissa. Here we are at work being wicked cute. Customers come in and give us compliments on our hats all the time.
