McCall's 6403

I sewed McCall's #6403 View D. I saw a sample of the pattern at Jo-Ann Fabrics and thought they were the cutest shorts in the world. I used a black gabardine and a green lining fabric that I had left over from another project for the pocket lining.

Total Cost (after discounts, coupons, etc.): $8.92

  • Fabric: $5.04
  • Zipper: $1
  • Hook and Eye: $2.88
  • Lining: stash
  • Interfacing: stash

The waistband came out really narrow so I made it wider somehow...I don't remember. I also thought the shorts were too baggy around my thighs so I tapered the shorts from the pockets down a total of 2 inches.

This pattern was pretty easy. I'm happy with how my shorts came out. This was my first time sewing a lapped zipper and it came out fine. To be honest, I really just wanted a pair of high-waisted black shorts to wear with this striped top.

  1. Wow, those shorts are really cute! I've been looking for a good shorts pattern so might try this one out.
